I started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu almost 15 years ago. Since then, I've had 2 major incidents that have caused serious issues with my ears. My first experience was when I was a new white belt. Another white belt caught me in a tight triangle choke and of course being a new white belt, I had no idea how to escape and pulled my head out of the triangle with every bit of strength I had.
To be honest, most medical doctors don’t know how to address cauliflower ear from the start but are fully capable of safely inserting a needle into the blood filled area to remove it.
It was an interesting road to the completion of this effort you see above. It surrounds one of the most fierce, determined and generous competitors on he planet, and it turns out, he looks at the world with the wisdom of someone well beyond their late 20's.
